Bill Walters 

Program Coordinator  

Bill Walters is a project coordinator who writes a lot. He likes to describe complex ideas with simple language — a useful trait for many projects. Before joining JLA in 2018, he’s been a technical writer, a magazine editor and staff writer, a marketing copywriter, and an employee communicator (mostly covering general topics, but with stints of specifically covering technology and facilities). He’s won service awards, a diversity award, and poetry and short fiction contests.

However, he's never won a bike race. He raced in several disciplines “back in the day,” usually as a support rider, while working in bike shops. He still rides to work and occasionally dons a race number “when there’s something interesting on the calendar.” Bill lives in Southeast Portland with his artist wife, his teenage son, and two energetic young cats.
